With a narrow margin of 6,526 votes, BJP's victory in Muzaffarnagar startled all political pundits. It became evident then that Jat, OBC, and upper-caste votes went in favor of Sanjeev Balyan.

2022 Assembly elections:

•    SP+RLD: 524,435

•    BJP: 507,630

•    BSP: 95,813

The SP and RLD alliance led by a margin of 16,805 votes. Though Lok Sabha and Assembly elections often have different issues and faces, the political dynamics have changed because now RLD has formed an alliance with BJP. In the 2022 Assembly elections, the partial distribution of Jat votes in BJP's favor, which happened earlier, is less likely now.

The backward and extremely backward caste votes are crucial, especially in Muzaffarnagar. It's a significant farmer belt, with agriculture being the primary concern. Law and order also rank among the major issues. In the 2022 Assembly elections, out of the 5 constituencies in Muzaffarnagar, BJP won 2, SP won 2, and RLD won 1. However, in the Khatauli Assembly by-polls, RLD candidate Madan Bhaiyya won in an SP and RLD alliance.
